S.Miguel Island

 

S.Miguel (São Miguel), known as "The Green Island" is the largest and the most populated island of the Azores. Azores islands are from vulcanic origin, located on the region of Macaronésia, with the Archipelago of the Madeira and the Canaries islands. The Azores have 9 islands, wich are divided in 3 groups:

Ocidental: Santa Maria and São Miguel;

Central: Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial;

Oriental: Flores and Corvo islands.

S.Miguel has a lot  places where we can see the evidences of vulcanic activities, such as Furnas Village.

The island offers beautiful places, such as beautiful lakes, beaches with vulcanic sand, rolling hills, green plains, high moutains, blue ocean, characteristic arquitecture and places with termal waters.

June and October are the monts where the weather is better. From November to January is pleasent but the temperatures are a little bit low, beeing from February trough May the monts that rains the most. July, August and September are the hottest monts.
